He received the “Best Resident Award in the Surgical Area” in the 1991 Graduation.
From 1992 to 2005, Doctor Javier Brenes worked at the Calderon Guardia Hospital. At the same time he began his private practice at Hospital Clinica Biblica, a private Hospital with more than 75 years of history in the heart of San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.
Continuing Education and Training:
After his residency, Doctor Javier Brenes continued his education and training in Hospitals such as Baylor College Methodist Hospital with Professor R. Narayan; the University of Texas with Professor Guy Clifton (mini-sabbatical), and he also participated as active member of AOSpine in different courses in Santiago, Chile in 2003.
He continued his education and training in San Jose, Costa Rica in 2005 ( Interactive Course); Cancun, Mexico 2005 (Complex Spinal Issues Symposium); Bogota, Colombia, 2005 (Combined Prodisc Cervical and Lumbar Spine Arthroplasty Course) with Dr. Rudolf Bertagnoli, and an AOSpine Master Course in Switzerland in December 2006. In June 2007, he attended a Cadaveric Spinal Course in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The surgeon also participated in an observer-ship in Santiago, Chile with Dr Bartolome Marre ( AOSI Educational Chairman) (2005), and in Curitiba, Brazil with Dr. Luiz Vialle (AOSI Regional Chairman) (2006).
