The Pursuit of Quality – Medical Tourism

Do you have a company in the medical tourism business?

If you  have a company in the medical tourism business, then you are probably scratching your head as to why large corporations and insurers have not come to the medical tourism industry to help defray costs.  You have undoubtedly heard the pundits say that great deals from large corporations and insurers are coming, but this is the same song you have been hearing for about 5 years.

Offer a buyer 30%, 50%, even 80% in savings on health care, and you think there is no reason why the buyer should not jump at the chance at such a savings. The problem is that you are missing the mark since you are not dealing with the fact that there is a fear factor involved in the process.

If you are not taking into account the fact that people have an inherent fear of the unknown, you are far from where you need to be in the industry. Large corporations, insurers and individuals are scared of things they are unsure of or don’t really know.

You can actually get people to listen to your pitch, read information you provide, visit your fabulous website, etc… but people will continue to think about the risk involved, including poor quality, security issues, safety concerns, the possibility of upset employees over problems and issues with the service, weather problems, having to travel across many time zones, language and cultural issues, and many more problems.

How do you go about addressing these concerns? More to come in future posts.
